Grassroots Advocacy Initiative

Healing shouldn’t require a passport.

Our grassroots advocacy initiative exists to make sure it doesn’t.

Too many veterans have to travel abroad or navigate patchwork state systems to access psychedelic-assisted therapies that could save their lives. That reality is unacceptable, and we are working to change it.

Healing Breakthrough brings veteran and family voices directly to the people who can fix this: Members of Congress, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and key decision-makers in Washington, D.C., and across the country.

Our grassroots advocates are veterans, spouses, clinicians, and civilian supporters united by one core belief:

Veterans who fought for this country should be able to heal here, in the country they served.

Whether you’ve spoken to lawmakers before or you’re new to advocacy, we’ll walk with you every step of the way.

What the Grassroots Advocacy Initiative Does

  • Elevates real veteran and family stories in meetings with Members of Congress to educate policymakers on the science and promise of psychedelic-assisted therapies to drive informed, bipartisan action

  • Advocates for dedicated federal appropriations to advance research, infrastructure, and clinician training

  • Builds a nationwide, trained network of advocates ready to mobilize when key legislation, hearings, or decisions are on the line

We provide the training, talking points, and coaching support you need to feel confident using your voice, and to use it safely, effectively, and with impact.

Ways to Get Involved

  1. Remote Advocacy (From Anywhere)

Support the movement from wherever you are. At-home advocates play a vital role by contacting lawmakers, responding to rapid call-to-action alerts, and sharing their stories through video or written testimony. This is a powerful way to stay engaged, amplify our message, and drive impact without ever leaving home.

  2. In-Person Advocacy

Join us as we meet directly with lawmakers in your state or Washington, D.C. This role is ideal for those who have participated in therapeutic psychedelic-assisted therapy, completed a period of integration, and feel ready to share their story face-to-face and engage with policymakers and expert voices in the field.

Please note: This is a volunteer initiative. Travel expenses may be eligible for reimbursement in some cases, but this is not a paid position, and we are unable to cover costs such as child care or time off work.
